Ranger/Warrior
I had been playing a W/E up until now, but kept noticing how i was always out of energy (DUH). So I was wondering pvp wise if a Ranger/Warrior is a useful adition to say a HoH team? More energy +expertise would allow one to spam energy based sword attacks (and also great defense with ranger stances). However, will the loss of such high dmg attacks such as power attack (based on strength attribute) hamper my dmg output?

Actually, if you look at expertise it says it lowers the energy cost of all RANGER skills. so no luck there, if you wanted low energy warrior skills. however, theres a couple of skills id like to try out, namely frenzy (with a bow) and Whirling defence as a warrior, far more effective when used as a warrior.

actually, expertise reduces the energy cost for all "ATTACK SKILLS"
basically meaning spells arent affected (none that i've found at least), but all bow attacks, warrior attacks (like cyclone axe, i hope they also mean secondary class attack skills) the cost will be reduced.

They do. As it is stated in the description, ALL attack skills, preparations, and traps are reduced.

Expertise: (Primary Only) Every rank of Expertise reduces energy costs of any Attack skills (including Warrior), Preparation skills, or Traps you use by approximately 4% per rank. With 12 ranks the energy cost will be reduced by about 48%.
Also, I've heard that Expertise affects Glyphs too. Not sure though.

If you just want the energy, and spam normal warrior attack skills, you won't do the ranger primary justice. This includes using cookie-cutter skills like apply poison and cyclone axe/hundred blades.

Expertise basically affects all skills that are not spells. The ingame description is misleading. Even elementalist glyphs get the effect.

Or you could get a warrior with warriors endurance and a zealous mod. That results in a gain of 4 energy a hit, meaning a 5 energy attack comes out at 1. Thats like, level 20 expertise or something. And since an offense based elite is not really required with such things as power attack, pure strike etc giving up expertise and replacing it with an elite doesnt hurt much..... but attacks against you hurt much less.

I've been wanting to try a sword R/W with Apply Poison, Hamstring, Hundred Blades, Tiger's Fury, and Savage Slash. There's so much more I want to put on this character I can't decide. I want more sword attacks, but I also want Storm Chaser, Flame Trap, and Barbed Trap.

Expertise affects everything except spells.
That includes shouts and glyphs. I don't actually know if it affects signets- someone could test it out while under the effect of Primal Echoes (nature ritual).
Ranger/Warriors using swords are surprisingly fun to play, but aren't suited for high level play as a melee attacker. Check out the builds forum under Ranger basics for "Aragorn the Sexy" for more ideas.
For a while I tried to work "Victory is Mine" into the build but with 13 or 14 expertise you have to work very hard to spend all your energy. Add a zealous sword to the mix and it becomes nearly impossible. With Victory is Mine in there and a few condition-inducing skills, it's impossible to run out of energy (provided you're not intentionally trying to ). It became inefficient at that point because there was nothing left to spend the energy on.
In any case, enjoy.
